At White's, we are building a strong focus on health, mental well-being and safety, and ensuring our up-to-date industry training and accreditation are current.
However, accreditation compliance with health and safety requirements can be complex and time-consuming,
Recognised by major companies across New Zealand, Tōtika has become the gold standard in our industry. Its primary aim is to standardise health and safety requirements across different organisations, creating a level playing field and ensuring consistent safety standards.
Developed by Construction Health and Safety New Zealand (CHASNZ), Tōtika addresses a long-standing issue in our industry: the lack of a standardised pre-qualification process. Before Tōtika, many businesses like us had to navigate a maze of proprietary schemes, repeatedly proving our capabilities to each individual client. This not only wasted time and resources but also created inefficiencies.
Having our own dedicated Health and Safety and HR Wellness Manager, has transformed the approach to engaging safety and wellness in the workplace for everyone. The Totika requirement is not just another tick-box pre-qualification process, it's a framework that brings together all aspects of health and safety pre-qualification under one umbrella.
Tōtika accreditation:
What sets Tōtika apart is its flexibility and comprehensive approach. The scheme uses approved service providers, such as Qualify365 and Impact Prequal to manage the accreditation process. This multi-provider approach ensures that companies like ours can choose the best fit for our needs while still adhering to the universal Tōtika standard.
Tōtika requires an annual prequalification assessment, which ensures we're always at the forefront of safety practices.
As part of our Tōtika initiative, White's has partnered with Qualify365, one of the Tōtika-approved accreditation providers. This online platform has revolutionised how we manage our health and safety prequalification assessment which is supported by Qualified-approved assessors.
The prequalification application has an assessment overview and allows us access to evidence and documentation previously submitted and reports on the overall Tōtika score rating of 79% and recognised grading of Performing.
While Tōtika provides the accreditation framework, we've implemented a few complementary systems to ensure we meet and exceed safety standards in our daily operations.
Safe365 is a software assessment tool which provides a helicopter overview into our health and safety capability, and helps us understand our assessment progress and results. The Dashboard sees the areas where we have strong capabilities and areas for improvement.
To complement our reporting systems, we've implemented the PeopleSafe Software App, a cloud-based solution for day-to-day health and safety reporting and one place to keep all your important safety information. Its user-friendly interface and mobile app support have been a hit with our busy team of technicians.
PeopleSafe has really made our safety reporting easy for our team. Our technicians can quickly report incidents or hazards, upload photos, and allows management to receive instant notifications. It's not just about compliance, it’s about creating a culture of safety and engagement.
PeopleSafe gives you one place to keep all your important safety information.
This system has been instrumental in helping us fulfil multiple requirements for our Tōtika prequalification accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to real-time safety management.
